Lyn, Cat, and Gemma Kettle, beautiful thirty-three-year-old triplets, seem to attract attention everywhere they go. Whenever they're together, laughter, drama, and mayhem seem to follow. But apart, each is very much her own woman, dealing with her own share ofups and downs. Lyn has organized her life into one big checklist, juggling the many balls of work, marriage, and motherhood with expert precision, but is she as together as her datebook would have her seem? Cat has just learned a startling secret about her marriage -- can she bring another life into her very precarious world? And can free-spirited Gemma, who bolts every time a relationship hits the six-month mark, ever hope to find lasting love?

In this wise, witty, hilarious new novel, we follow the Kettle sisters through their thirty-third-year, as they struggle to survive their divorced parents' dating each other, their technologically savvy grandmother, a cheating husband, champagne hangovers, and the fabulous, frustrating life of forever being part of a threesome. A family comedy about sibling rivalry, "Three Wishes is an assured and warmhearted debut.

My Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ (DNF'd – explained below)Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty is a contemporary Australian novel that explores sisterhood, self-discovery, and the complexities of family dynamics through the lens of triplets navigating adulthood. Rooted in themes of coming of age, relationships on the brink, and unexpected life changes, the story leans heavily into character-driven storytelling rather than fast-moving plot.Liane Moriarty is an author I genuinely enjoy, particularly for her ability to create vivid, believable characters and a strong sense of place, and Three Wishes is no exception in that regard. Her signature observational style is present from the beginning, painting a clear picture of the sisters’ personalities and their intertwined lives. The Australian setting adds an extra layer of familiarity and charm, grounding the story in everyday realism. However, this is where my experience diverged. I ultimately rated this book a 0 solely because I did not finish it. The pacing felt very slow, and despite appreciating the writing itself, I struggled to stay engaged and couldn’t make it past the 25% mark. The focus on gradual character development over narrative momentum made it difficult for me to push through at this time. That said, this rating is not a reflection of poor writing or a lack of quality. Sometimes a book simply isn’t the right fit at the right moment, and I firmly believe that what doesn’t work for one reader may become a favourite for another. I’m also not someone who leaves books permanently DNF’d as I often revisit them later with a fresh perspective; so this is very much a “for now” review rather than a final verdict.I would still recommend Three Wishes to readers who enjoy slow-paced, character-driven family sagas, especially those who appreciate nuanced portrayals of relationships and self-discovery. If you love Moriarty’s style and don’t mind a gentler narrative build, this may resonate far more deeply with you than it did with me at this point in time. This is one I’m open to returning to in the future, and who knows, this review may very well change down the track.
