Beschreibung

This e-book is intended for you who have an interest in Moscow, and east and west European travel, and a wish to see some drawings and paintings on sacred sites and the artist’s explanations of how and why it has been done. In addition to Moscow an east-west comparison discussion of travel to Western Europe having been to Moscow. It is an e-book also intended to contribute to interfaith dialogue. And, for anyone involved in making an arts project it may assist because as this e-book shows that arts projects gain a momentum of their own as they move along. I hope I’ve illustrated this in order to help you attain your goals. By 1994 I had made two largish Sacred Sites oil paintings, (4ft x 5ft), from earlier sketches. One was of St Basil’s, Red Square, Moscow, from my visit there in 1989. The other was of the Anglican Cathedral, Liverpool. The Anglican Cathedral Liverpool was an easier proposition to paint since my studio at the time was located in that great Liverpuddlian city. Painting St Basils had involved a difficult journey there in 1989 as not many individual tourists journeyed there during what was still the Soviet Union. It was mainly a closed place other than booking a slot in a tourist group, but I preferred to drive there in my VW Beetle, which I did. I visited many other sacred sites in neighbouring countries in that 1989 tour. There was no doubt about it, Sacred Sites, as a distinctive arts project was coming alive. There would be many other travels and many other paintings, and details of these are contained in this e-book. I hope that you find something in this work to inspire your own goals. Jerry Gordon
