Beschreibung

Tress has spent her entire life on a remote island, where the emerald-green waters shape her world. Surrounded by vibrant flora and a close-knit community, she enjoys a peaceful existence defined by routine. However, this tranquility is shattered when she learns of a mysterious adventure waiting beyond the shores. Driven by curiosity and the desire for something greater, Tress sets out to explore the vast ocean that has always captivated her imagination.

As Tress embarks on her journey, she encounters a world teeming with magic and peril. The adventures she faces challenge her resilience and force her to confront her true self. Along the way, she meets an array of intriguing characters, each with their own stories to tell and secrets to unveil. With every twist and turn, Tress discovers not just the richness of the world beyond her island but also the depths of her courage and determination.

Through her experiences, Tress learns the importance of friendship, sacrifice, and believing in oneself. The emerald sea serves as both a backdrop and a catalyst for her transformation, highlighting the profound impact of exploration and self-discovery. Her quest becomes not only a journey across the water but a path toward understanding her place in a much larger tapestry of life.

Rezensionen

First read: 1/29/16 I want to give this book more than 5 stars because it not only met my expectations, but exceeded them. And I had pretty high expectations.

As with all of Sanderson's Cosmere, I thoroughly enjoyed this setting and the characters. Tress is a great young adult character with her growth excellently executed through the progression of the novel and the rest of our cast was filled with a variety of interesting individuals. I appreciated the inclusion of a Deaf and disabled character and the lovely sentiment of the book's lesson. Unfortunately, I found our narrator's rambling metaphors and similies and their vocabulary to constantly throw me out of the world.
