Beschreibung

The story unfolds in Tropical Florida with two brothers passing away within one week of each. The brothers created a successful software company for businesses to run more efficiently. The police are suspicious even though there are no overt clues or evidence indicating foul play. They contact J.D. McLane, the main character, in the Florida Keys to see if he can shed any light on the brothers who had been childhood friends.

McLane is recovering on Marathon Key from his ten year stint working covertly for the CIA. He wants to decompress from a profession that he feels has stolen much of his soul and is only looking to frequent the local bars and spend time on the Gulf of Mexico. But then he receives the phone call that immediately changes the course of his life and sends him on a journey that cast suspicions on people who hold very high positions in Washington D.C.

He teams with Bill Stevers who is a police detective in Sarasota investigating what is becoming a murder investigation. The flavor of the early chapters is steeped in Gulf Coast scenery and gives the reader a sense of the real Florida with its balmy weather and spectacular waterways but soon takes on an ominous feeling as they unpack just what became of the Connally’s.

Their leads bring them to the conclusion that there is a secret hiding within the confines of General Systems, the company built by the Connally’s, that employ fifty people. McLane who in his past life was a paid assassin now utilizes his talents to bring the killers of his friends to justice even if that leads him to the highest political office in the land and the door of the President of the United States.
