The first half of the book shows our MCs meet and fall in love in college. It reads like your typical college, sports romance. A popular athlete who can and does have any girl he wants at any time falls for the quiet girl who doesn’t fall at his feet when they meet. But, twist, this girl also has a dark secret and a stalker, which ultimately forces her to leave everything behind, including the boy. The second half jumps 3 years into the future and kinda where it fell apart for me. First, the smut pretty much takes over the plot, and their connection seems much more like lust than actual love. Second, I love an obsessive and protective MMC, but his obsession had some real stalker tendencies, which would be one thing in a different kind of story, but when our FMC had an ACTUAL stalker who terrorized her… I had a hard time believing she would find his behavior cute. Third, it was just kinda all over the place. There were parts of the plot that seemed disjointed, like conversations/scenes had happened that we didn’t witness. When the stalker was finally revealed, I honestly had to be reminded who it even was. All that to say… I didn’t hate it. Don’t go in expecting some great novel, but it was entertaining in the way those old VH1 reality tv shows were (showing my age here?
