Five years later, a determined, older and wiser Esperia is trying to carve out a life for herself in exile on Bigaterre. By happenstance she meets the planet’s leader, a man named Zimrees, who belies the stereotype of his military culture. They fall deeply in love and marry, much to the dismay of Esperia’s hardline father.
Her new husband’s political rivals hatch a plot to completely destroy her home planet, and Esperia immediately finds herself at the center of the conflict – the only person who can bring together her husband, her father, and the Urthusian terrorist faction, to save Urthusia.
Esperia’s commitment to non-violence remains strong, even in the face of violent tactics and narrow-minded bigotry. But she must summon the courage which only her strong faith in a supreme being can provide to live up to her calling and sustain her relationships with the two men she loves.
“Vectors” is a science fiction re-telling of the biblical story of Esther, and a metaphor for our modern world, where the struggle between non-violence and terrorism, bigotry and acceptance, militarism and spirituality lingers on.
