Memories can burn…
Private investigator Annie Raymond thought she'd put East Yorkshire—and her past—behind her. But a seemingly inconsequential case for her ex-bosses, sisters Barbara and Pat, soon puts her in the path of a speeding car—and lands Barbara in a coma. While Pat claims ignorance about who might want to hurt them, Annie isn't buying it.
Annie races to make sense of too many unconnected clues: a mystery woman who's gone missing; a police wall of silence; a desolate farmhouse hiding a sinister secret; and Vince Sleeman, her powerful old enemy, who's back and pulling some very nasty strings. With innocent lives at stake, Annie must face down her own past, which will either reveal the truth—or bury her with it.
