This book dives headfirst into the challenges of addiction, offering an unflinching portrayal of the struggles and triumphs that come with it, all while exploring the profound bond between the two protagonists.Lily Calloway and Loren Hale’s relationship is the heart of this book. Their love is flawed yet undeniably beautiful, with both characters fiercely supporting each other as they confront their respective addictions—Lily’s sex addiction and Lo’s alcoholism. The authors do a brilliant job of balancing their romantic connection with the realities of their individual battles, showcasing a raw and authentic partnership that feels deeply real. What makes this book stand out is its ability to humanize addiction without sugarcoating its darker sides. Lily’s vulnerability and guilt are palpable, and Lo’s determination to fight his own demons while protecting Lily adds layers to his character. Their growth throughout the novel is inspiring, and readers will find themselves rooting for their healing and happiness. The addition of the Calloway sisters and Hale brothers enriches the story, providing moments of humor, drama, and unconditional support. The sibling dynamics and friendships within the book bring warmth to the otherwise heavy subject matter, making the story feel well-rounded and emotionally satisfying. The pacing is steady, and the alternating POVs of Lily and Lo provide an intimate look into their thoughts and struggles. The writing is sharp, emotional, and at times heart-wrenching, capturing the complexity of addiction and love in a way that is both honest and hopeful. However, the book does require readers to be invested in the series from the beginning, as it heavily relies on character development and storylines introduced in the first two books. New readers might find it challenging to fully understand the depth of the characters’ relationships without having read *Addicted to You* and *Ricochet*.Characters:Lily Calloway"I love him. I love him more than I love my next breath, and that scares me."Lily is the heart of Addicted for Now and a deeply complex protagonist. Struggling with a sex addiction that has dominated her life, she constantly battles feelings of guilt, shame, and fear of disappointing those she loves. Despite her flaws, Lily is incredibly endearing, with a vulnerability that makes her relatable and human. She is fiercely loyal and willing to face her demons, though her journey is anything but smooth. Her growth in this book is significant, as she learns to confront her addiction while leaning on the people who care about her, particularly Loren. Lily’s love for Lo is her anchor, but she also begins to realize the importance of her own strength and self-worth.Loren (Lo) Hale:"You’re my best friend, my girlfriend, my addiction. You’re my everything."Lo, Lily’s long-time boyfriend, is equally broken yet determined to heal. A recovering alcoholic, he has just returned from rehab and is navigating sobriety for the first time. Lo’s love for Lily is all-encompassing, and his protective nature shines through as he supports her recovery while managing his own struggles. His character is a mix of sarcasm, wit, and vulnerability, which makes him incredibly compelling. In *Addicted for Now*, Lo grows immensely, recognizing the delicate balance between being Lily’s rock and allowing her to stand on her own. His journey is a testament to resilience and the sacrifices one makes for love.Rose Calloway"Weakness is a state of mind. If you don’t let it consume you, you can fight it."Rose, Lily’s older sister, is the epitome of ambition and strength. As the eldest Calloway sister, she often takes on the role of protector, and her tough-love approach to Lily and Lo’s struggles provides a refreshing contrast to their vulnerabilities. Rose is fiercely independent, intelligent, and unafraid to speak her mind. Her relationship with Connor adds layers of depth to her character, as it shows a softer, more vulnerable side beneath her often icy exterior.Connor Cobalt"I don’t need to prove I’m the best. I already know I am."Connor is Rose’s boyfriend and one of the most charismatic characters in the series. Intelligent, calculated, and confident, he has a knack for manipulating situations to his advantage while maintaining a veneer of charm and poise. Despite his often aloof demeanor, Connor genuinely cares for his friends and plays a key role in helping Lo and Lily navigate their challenges. His loyalty to Rose and his willingness to be there for the group, even in difficult times, make him an indispensable part of their lives.Ryke Meadows"Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is stick around and fight, even when you want to run."Ryke, Lo’s half-brother, is introduced as a no-nonsense, tough-love kind of guy who doesn’t shy away from telling the truth, no matter how harsh it may be. Though initially abrasive, Ryke’s genuine care for Lo becomes evident as he steps up to support his brother’s sobriety. His straightforward approach to life and relationships contrasts with the emotional chaos surrounding Lily and Lo, making him a steady, grounding presence in the story. Ryke also begins to form a close bond with Daisy, hinting at a deeper connection to be explored later.Daisy Calloway:"Life is meant to be lived on the edge. Otherwise, you’re just taking up space."Daisy, the youngest Calloway sister, is a free-spirited, adventurous soul who often feels overshadowed by her older siblings. Her vibrant personality and zest for life bring a lightness to the story, but her underlying struggles are hinted at throughout the book. Daisy’s playful nature and budding friendship with Ryke add layers to her character, showing that there’s more to her than meets the eye. Her role in the group dynamic brings balance and warmth to the heavier themes of the story. Each of these characters plays a pivotal role in Addicted for Now, contributing to the complex web of relationships, growth, and support that defines the heart of the series.Overall, Addicted for Now is an intense, emotional read that tackles sensitive topics with grace and depth. It’s a story about healing, unconditional love, and the power of resilience, making it a must-read for fans of the series and anyone looking for a romance that goes beyond the surface.
