In a world teeming with enchantment and mystery, a young girl discovers her extraordinary abilities and her connection to a vibrant cultural heritage. The protagonist, born in America but raised in Nigeria, navigates the complexities of adolescence while grappling with her unique identity. She finds herself straddling two cultures, feeling the weight of expectations from both her Nigerian roots and her American upbringing.

As she uncovers the magical realm around her, she is drawn into mysterious adventures that challenge her understanding of reality. With the help of newfound friends, she explores a society filled with witches, spirits, and Nigeria's rich folklore. Each challenge she faces pushes her to confront her fears and embrace her destiny in this beautifully woven tapestry of fantasy.

Her journey invites readers to experience the enchanting rhythms of Nigerian life alongside the thrilling discoveries of magic. With heart and humor, this coming-of-age tale unfolds as she learns that embracing one’s true self is the most powerful magic of all. Through trials and triumphs, the young witch's story is a celebration of culture, friendship, and personal growth.

The concept is so cool but I just didn't care for the story as much. Still undecided about whether I will read the next book because I had to force myself through 80% of the boring parts of the book to get to the interesting 20%. I understand why the characters are ages 12-14 as it makes sense for the "discovery of magical powers" storyline but the rest of the story would make so much sense if the characters were older. If there's a time jump for the rest of the books I might consider them
