Ver todo3.5Another buddy read with my best good friend :)After reading Oaths & Omissions I genuinely couldn't wait to read Alistair's book.Normally when I write a review I know my rating before I write it but with this one I think I need to get my thoughts out and see what rating I think afterwards. This book to start with was so good. It had a much quicker pace than the rest of the books, I really appreciated that. It gave this book a sense of uniqueness that the others since Promises hasn't really had (not that that is a bad thing just something I have picked up on)Now while it started good with Alistair and Cora meeting and having an interesting first interaction I expected that pace to continue and to build from there. Yet that isn't what we get unfortunately. The pace keeps up for about a third of the book and then in my opinion slows down quite significantly. Now I will say as this is a buddy read and that me and my friend talk after each section we read, we talk about what we think will happen and try to figure out plots. She suggested one that I didn't think about but when she said it I remembered a detail that added to her suggestion. We both said that if that turned out to be correct and that was the main plot point it would greatly reduce the rating as we are both readers that like to be surprised and unfortunately that doesn't happen often. Our prediction was correct and I am unsure if the way the ending was done, if that was supposed to be the main plot reveal or if it was the other thing that was revealed with the plan that was put in place to get them to meet in the first place. That will be determined after I speak to my buddy reader in regards to if that was the main reveal or not and my rating will confirm the outcome of that conversation. Now as for Cora, I found her to be very self involved and not very open to talking about things and yet she wanted to know everything about Alistair. That I found unfair. Also the amount of times that this whole plan with ****** was happening behind the scenes that Cora could have told Alistair the truth about certain situations involving ****** that gave away some of his intentions annoyed me as he would have more facts to work with and could have dealt with it differently.I will say the ending after ****** was dealt with made my heart hurt for Cora. Despite her irritating nature, that was so sad.Now depending on the copy of the book you read (mine is the indie copy) you will get a bonus chapter and I can't annotate that as I had to get it off Sav R Millers website but I will say that something that is mentioned is rather gross considering the relationship between two of the people involved and it makes me wonder if that piece of information hasn't been revealed in the series yet. That was just a little perspective on that bonus chapter. While I didn't dislike this book I don't think I can score it the same as the others unfortunately.
This was so good. I really enjoyed the plot and their dynamics alot. Also the way Kal and Elena continues to appear helping everyone
