“People didn’t go looking for lies that didn’t have a reason.”Honestly, this book wasn’t what I was expecting yet it was, at the same time. It’s hard to explain, but, basically, I thought it was going to be a Holly Jackson meets dark romance set themed book that centred around a murder mystery at Yale. It was, in a way, but not. There is a murder mystery, and it is at Yale, but there’s also a unique sort of magic. Think of The Order on Netflix—like that, but darker and without werewolves. And, honestly, I wanted to be gripped into the mystery. Unable to tear my eyes away from the book until I reached the end—but I wasn’t. I simply paced through the book at the rate I did, content. The revelation didn’t all that surprise me, like I had wanted, but the relationship dynamic between Darlington and Alex has interested me and so has the world that it is set in. It’s different, which I think is refreshing because I like different. But I would loved for it to have been gripping in a way that left you reeling.
I genuinely thought this book would never end.The story itself was very interesting and that's what pushed me to finish it. I didn't want to DNF because I really wanted the twists and turns I knew the book could create. But the writing just didn't work for me. I was just finding myself zoning out for entire pages and would return to the book and I hadn't lost any action. Nothing notable happened for paaaaaages and paaaaaages. But we would get paragraphs over paragraphs of (beautiful but completely redundant and overwhelming) descriptions. I picked it up because of all the hype and because the premise sounded very interesting. And the premise did deliver.There's that, I ended it on a positive note.
◈ I want to be honest, like other Dark academic books, this one also isn't made for everyone. for myself the first half of the book was tedious, I mean the things that happened were delicious but I got the feeling that the chapters were too long and I thought I was going to DNF it in the middle of the book. however, I kept reading till the 2nc half started with exciting events that were completely fictional mixed with magic which made me realize all those chapters before ( I can call them an intro of the world where you can get familiar with the story) were just making me ready for the end and plot.◈ the improvement of characters and how Galaxy grows was a great symbol of how women are the victims of this harsh world where they are just trying to live and survive.◈ the plot was mind-blowing and I bet the next book will be far more interesting, in addition to the fact that now I know how magic and societies work.
For the most part of this book, it was a quite mediocre read for me. I thought about DNFing it more times than I care to remember. But...The last maybe 30% of the book have redeemed the storyline in a very interesting and twisty way.
There were always excuses for why girls died.Brutal, feminist undertones, unique premise & setting, non linear timeline didn't do it for me though.

Necesito ya la segunda parte, sin duda.Oscuro y retorcido, con (aviso) escenas de contenido sensible que pueden resultar incómodas para algunos lectores.
Leigh Bardugo captures my heart and soul again with this book. I’ve missed LB’s writing style so much since the world of the Grisha came out. In this adult fantasy, I was given a heap of suspense and magic and secret societies (along with my desire for darlington and Alex to be in love) this was such an amazing book, it had a slow start but it really picked up and made me fall in love with the stories and the characters.
