Descripción

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family--and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what it undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

Reseñas

Ver todo

This might be the greatest piece of science fiction ever written, not just because of the lengths the author goes to describe each character with depth and state their intentions in such a manner that is relatable to the reader. The complexity of the planet of Arrakis and the total immersion of the reader into Fremen culture, as well as the detailed descriptions of political tensions bring this book's world building to the next level. It is astounding how one author can create such a complex world from scratch and write about every aspect of an imaginary culture and way of life.

This is a classic si-fi novel. There is a large amount of world building spread over 6 novels, prequels (The whole 9 yards) and Yes! Worms! lots of them. There is a reason why lots of peeps on GR read this. It's good! Not five star. I recommend this to people.

I don't like sand. It's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.
