The concept of this book is really interesting: a square in a world called “flatland” tells about his world & has an experience with a few people from other worlds. The writing style wasn’t bad but it did tend to drone on. Sentences would run on with more info than what’s needed. The first half of the book is descriptions of his world but it could have been condensed to just a couple chapters & then we could have gotten on with the story, which would have been nice since the second half feels like it’s missing something. The characters, although shapes in a 2D world, have interesting personalities & relationships with others that you wouldn’t expect possible. But most of their world isn’t exactly what you would expect is possible. The book was written in the late 1800s & you can tell by the wording used & the structure of the sentences but it isn’t too hard for the modern reader to understand. It’s a short read so if you want something a little different then what you’d normally read, pick this up. I wouldn’t say it’s a must read though.
