I already love Slade/Rip. It was frustrating to see Auren still feel so loyal to Midas even after getting a glimpse of freedom, but considering everything she's been through, it makes sense. Midas's reaction when he saw her again wasn't surprising at all. I'm really hoping Slade/Rip helps her finally break free from him.I absolutely can't stand Queen Malina. She comes across as rich, spoiled, and just as delusional as Midas. At this point, I'm rooting for Malina and Midas to tear each other apart.If I'm being honest, not a lot actually happens in this book. It felt like there was a lot of internal dialogue and character reflection, but not much action. That said, I really liked Judd, Lu, Osrik, and Keg. I also called it pretty early that Rip was King Ravinger, so it was satisfying to find out I was right.
This series just gets better and better! The magic lore blew me away. The world building was beautiful. The characters are not 2D and the Commander
