Ver todoI regret the time I spent reading this book — and that’s not a feeling I get very often.Starting with the positives (of which there aren’t many, given the 2⭐ rating): the premise was genuinely interesting and what got me hooked in the beginning. The prologue was captivating, and the writing itself was solid — not overly simplistic, but not dull either. Now onto the bad. What makes a good mystery thriller, in my opinion, is a mix of pacing, the reveal, the explanation, and the breadcrumbs we’re supposed to get throughout the story. Not in the sense of guessing the reveal, but in that satisfying “oh, how did I not see this coming?” way when everything finally clicks.Well. The pacing was weird as hell, and I genuinely don’t understand why this book was filled with so many red herrings and unnecessary plotlines. It made the story feel oddly disjointed. The reveal? Weird and unsatisfying. The explanation? I don’t think I’ve ever read something that made less sense. The breadcrumbs? NON. EXISTENT.The author just pulled a character out of nowhere and went, “Bet you didn’t see this coming!”I’m so sorry, but I really wish I hadn’t picked this book up.
