The play was also supposed to be about how difficult it is to put on stage the people we love, particularly if they’re our children who, unlike our parents, are not fair game because they can’t fight back. There was also supposed to be a kind of autumnal feeling to the play, as suggested by the title, with a hint that winter was on its way both for the world of the play and the writer writing it.
