This book is the conclusion and the final build up of the series: The Demigod Summit. It starts off seeming to be going well. But then one of the Demigods decides to try and get ahead. Obviously that fails. And we get the reveal that I love so much. Harding is not who he claimed to be.When I first heard this on Graphic Audio, I had to do a doubletake when the gods entered the story. I still feel like Zeus sounds like Mufasa. And it is oddly fitting. And I just love how flippant Hades is, calling out Poseidon screwing up and then pointing out Zeus's own favoritism. So it's only fair Hades gets to give a perk to his favorite too. Thus Alexis gets an upgrade. The reveals in this book make things so much clearer. It explains some of the strange things that have been going on, such as Kieran's strange situation and Dylan's past. And that's another thing, the whole part with the hearing regarding the mark Kieran had placed on Alexis: that was such BS. The part regarding Alexis was fair, not counting the one who kept wanting to think it was still not allowed. But then Dylan was pulled in. And rather than talking to Kieran about the bloodoath, they question Dylan and Alexis regarding it. Demigods like Zander give me the ick. On the surface, they appear accommodating and cordial but then they go behind your back to badger your staff because they are easier to break than a fellow Demigod. It is disgusting. And their reasoning was complete BS.On another note, this is Tarian's first true interaction with the group, mostly Daisy. He makes a small appearance and helps her and Mordecai with an accident that had come up. But then he went and set off a level five Berserker all so he could collect on a deal gone wrong. For obvious reasons, Daisy decides she hates Tarian for endangering her family. Which, fair. But, the events in this book and the ending is basically the final step that triggers a change that will mean Tarian will be back. And this time, he won't be leaving the human world without Daisy.
