Descripción

Snake River is a novel based on the history of the changes that have shaped one of the major rivers of our country. Each chapter is an excerpt from time, leading to the present when the river is no longer free flowing. The novel starts with the geologic history of the Snake River country and progresses with stories of prehistoric man and how change was initiated. Each arrival brought hardship and more disruption of the natural environment. Some of the ground gained in conservation is lost during World War II and the years following as power generation, increased industrialization, and increase in population occur. A senator tries to reconcile the conflicts in his own mind. A disastrous decline in water quality results in a large-scale fish kill. Solutions are not easy and may not even be possible. With a catastrophic occurrence, natural events may again control the fate of the river.
