This short crochet pattern is for a single flower pattern excerpted from “Susan’s Showy Crochet Flower Patterns” which can be found on the Kindle store at (www.susanlinnstudio.etsy.com) The New Chrysanthemum II is one of the largest of those simple and highly dimensional crocheted flowers. Here you find the instructions and step-by-step photos you need to work this darling flower accent for a dress or purse. There is a key to abbreviations, a note about materials, and of course the instructions themselves with lots of photos. This full and showy chrysanthemum can be worked in any weight yarn with its suggested hook size; but I prefer a medium weight yarn and a size F or G for a nice tight stitch…or a light weight (baby weight) yarn with a size D or E hook. If you use a soft and flexible yarn, its petals will curl more, as in the blue and gray mums in the photo above. A more sturdy acrylic yarn will yield a flower with stiffer petals. The mum works up to be approximately 5 inches across when worked in medium weight yarns. Feel free to make and sell items from my patterns; however, please do not pass around the patterns themselves, as they are my own copyrighted designs.
