Descripción

THE HILLBILLY BOPPER NO 1 aims to discover artists and unknown musicians of the 40s / 50s in the United States. We make our journey via Texas to California and to North Carolina. The reader will learn about the beginnings of Bud Hobbs, Charline Arthur, Chuck Bowers, Church Brothers, Roy Hogsed, Marian Hall and comedy duo Mustard and Gravy. An anecdote dear to rockabilly singer Pat Cupp is told about Elvis. Buck Owens, before becoming the star we know, was incredibly poor at that time and had to borrow a shirt for his first performance on stage. The musicians in the background are rarely mentioned, and names such as Charlie Hull, Jelly Sanders, Kate Fiddlin, Doc Walsh and Oscar Whittington, contributed much to the music scene at that time. Both the beginnings of the Collins Kids Bakersfield Sound and the end of the great Western Swing formations are transcribed in this superb work written by Alain Leroy.
