Soon after taking office, President Ulysses S. Grant discovers millions of dollars in suspected fraud involving the transcontinental railroad. He sends former staff officer U.S. Marshal J.R. Chance to Wyoming to investigate. Chance joins forces with a Cheyenne woman who saves his life.
