Charles Anthon

Charles Anthon was an influential American classical scholar and educator, best known for his contributions to the field of classical studies and Latin lexicography. Born in New York City in 1797, he dedicated much of his life to the study and teaching of ancient languages, particularly Greek and Latin. His works, including 'A Copious and Critical English-Latin Lexicon' and 'A Grammar of the Greek Language for the Use of Schools and Colleges', became foundational texts in the education of students in classical languages.
