⚠️ The only mistake I made was thinking I knew what was going on.

I just finished That's Not My Name and I'm glad this was my first ever mystery book!!! I can happily say... I'm officially hooked.

From the very beginning, this book had me. The chapter endings are actually dangerous TT. They all end in a way that makes it impossible to stop and the next thing I knew, it was late at night and I still couldn't put it down like its so addictive. It had this creepy, unsettling vibe, that constant feeling as if something isn't right which honestly made falling asleep a little harder..

"Don't worry. Nobody will see you."

The best part? You actually feel like you've figured everything out. You start connecting the dots about the two missing people, and you're so convinced you know where the story is going... and then NOPE! It throws a twist at you that questions everything you thought you knew, your assumptions all wrong. It kept happening as I progressed, and I absolutely loved it. The dual POV was such a smart choice.

And then... THAT ENDING. WHAT?! 😭 I thought I was ready, like I knew but I did not see that twist coming. I just sat there staring at the last few pages trying to process what I had just read.

This was such a good pick. Hooked from the very beginning and the ending made the whole journey so worth it. Great job author! would definitely check out her other works. If you want a quick thriller read, this book it is!

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)Hidden Pictures was a fun and suspenseful read that kept me turning the pages. Mallory was an easy character to root for, and I loved how the illustrations were woven into the story. Seeing Teddy's drawings throughout the book added a unique layer that made the mystery feel more immersive and helped bring the story to life. While I figured out parts of the twist before the reveal, there were still enough surprises to keep me invested. The book stayed dark and creepy without going over the top, and I appreciated that the final chapter showed what happened after the main events instead of ending abruptly. My biggest complaint was some of the parts in the book that felt unnecessary and never really went anywhere. Even so, the strong mystery, creative presentation, and satisfying ending made this an enjoyable read from start to finish.

This book was not what I was expecting…I’m bawling my eyes out which is weird to say with a thriller.

Life is looking up for Mallory. She’s 18 months sober from heroin addiction and just got an amazing job as a nanny, complete with her own cottage behind the main house. The family treats her like part of the family and Teddy, the 5 year old boy she’s hired to watch, is sweet, imaginative, and artistic. Soon the dream job becomes more complicated as she learns about her cottage’s mysterious (and bloody) history, sees Teddy’s daily pictures become increasingly disturbing, and deals with Teddy’s “imaginary friend” Anya. I LOVED this book. I didn’t see the ending coming. Every time you (and Mallory) seem to be figuring it out, something else happens to change it. The pictures that Teddy draws are throughout the pages of the book which was a super fun addition to the story. This one would make a great movie.

This one had been on the TBR list for almost 18 months, and I wish it hadn't taken me so long. Whilst I didn't find it scary, it was creepy, and once the truth came out, as a parent myself, it terrified me.The book is well written, and the storyline is well thought out. At first, I thought I'd have preferred no pictures included, as I'm sure my mind would have conjured up something worse. However, as the story progressed, they really came into their own, and I eagerly awaited the next one as I tried to piece together what was/had happened. When the truth came out, however, I was nowhere near with my guesses! This is a really fab book for those who enjoy a spooky thriller.

If I could give this 1,000 stars, I would.)

This book is absolutely incredible. I have never rated a book five stars—doing so is extremely rare for me. As someone who loves thriller and horror and can usually predict plot twists long before they happen, I was completely unprepared for this story.

From the very first page, I was hooked. Not a single twist was predictable, and every turn caught me off guard. By the time I reached the end, I honestly wanted to cry because it was over. This story stays with you—it’s unforgettable. To be able to experience reading it for the first time again is something I would give anything for.

This book deserves to be turned into a show or a movie. Even now, I struggle to fully describe it because words don’t do it justice. All I can say is that it is powerful, gripping, and truly one of a kind.

Mr. Jason R., you have outdone yourself. I don’t know if there will ever be another book that can top this one. And the illustrations—absolutely phenomenal. The book would not be the same without them. Every drawing added depth and emotion, and I loved every single part of it.

Thank you for creating something so unforgettable.

“hardest things about recovery is coming to terms with the fact that you can’t trust your brain”What a creepy little bookI love a creepy thriller that has children involved, it just makes it all the more spooky. Some of the twists in this book, I did not see coming at all! I was completely mind blown by the end.The pictures drawn in this book were fun to look at as well, definitely adds to the creepiness of the story.

This book was recommended to me and it was one of your books I couldn't really put down. I usually put spoilers in my reviews but I'll try not to with this one.I like that it starts out with something unusual but then quickly reveals the traits and lifestyle of the main character. From there the pace flows quite steady for the rest of the story and at no point did I feel like it was going no where. The way the scenery and setting for each locale is described makes it really easy to imagine it but what I really like about this book that's unlike any other I've read is the pictures that are here and there throughout the book. The way the mystery unravels in this book is handled really well and with some really unpredictable twists helps to elevate this book high up my list of books of this genre.I don't have a lot more to say except that I really enjoyed this book and it felt like watching a Stephen King movie.Highly recommended!!

... I don't know why I got emotional in the last chapter of this book, but I did. A lot of the TikTok reviews I saw made this book look like a horror story but for me it was more of a mystery story. It was enjoyable and I love the ending

Although Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak didn't give me the chills I was hoping for, it did give me the THRILLS! At some point, I thought I had it all pieced together and I was feeling pretty cocky like "Ha, I figured it out and I still have the book". Oh, how I became very humbled by, not knowing at any point what was going to happen next. Hidden Pictures is about a young recovery addict named Mallory, who by chance falls into a job as a live-in babysitter for the Maxwell family and their young son Teddy. Soon after Mallory moves into the cottage shed on the property and officially starts her job. But quickly she notices some strange things going on with Teddy, his artwork, and his imaginary friend Anya. From the first page to the last page, Hidden Pictures had me hooked! The book is well written and full of suspense page after page, and I liked how the author added illustrations for the reader to get a feel of the mysterious artwork that was being drawn. It's a great read, again it's listed as a horror novel, but it didn't have the chilling effect as much as the thrill of finding out just what was going on.

I loved this book from start to finish, everything about it was amazing!Update: 11/23 This book is just as fantastic the second time through! I immediately got sucked back into Mallory’s story! I loved getting to catch hints for what was to come that I missed reading the first time.
