I listened to the audio version read by Hugh Fraser.By his reading he gave life to the characters.I really like the way he read the book.After listening to the book,I watched the TV series.I think the book is much better.
Another masterpiece from the queen of detective and mystery fiction! The usual amount of suspense, secrecy, and riddles. And yet there are many other ways to read and enjoy this work as something more than just a detective novel; one of them is the World War despair. The events are set in England during World War 1 at Styles Court, and mirror the alienation resulting from the universal armed struggle along with its subsequent impact on social relations. The war had played havoc with order. The emotional void and material aspect of the new world seemed to annihilate all the ties uniting people, which resulted in money-driven relationships and crimes like the one committed by Alfred and Mary against Mrs. Inglethorp.
This is my first introduction to Agatha Christie's books, and so to Hercule Poirot himself. I don't know what I was expecting, but I can honestly say that I loved this book. I recently started reading mystery books and I have to admit k love how I was able to follow along most of the book to be completely thrown away at the end. It's true that it resolves everything in the last 20 something pages, and for being a book of more than 300 pages, resolving everything in the last 20 something felt "insufficient." I would have loved to read more from the culprit's point of view to fully understand their motives and not just stick with what Poison said the notice was, even though it makes perfect sense. I know it's Christie's first novel so I can only expect her novels to get better through time. I highly recommend this book, it entertained me a lot. Great mystery book.
Al principio se me hizo un poco lento, pero a medida que me adentraba en la historia se me hizo mucho mas llevado, especialmente cuando apareció el famoso personaje de Hercules Poirot. Este es el primer libro que leo en donde aparece el, y la verdad es que se llevo todo el centro de atención, y totalmente merecido. Su personalidad elocuente, desordenada pero al mismo tiempo metódica y creativo fue lo que me cautivo el seguir leyendo esta novela. El libro esta narrado desde el punto de vista de otro personaje, y el no saber lo que pasaba por la cabeza de Poirot era inquietante y muchas veces, desesperante. Sin embargo, este hecho le agrego un tono distinto a toda la historia, la cual nos hacia que nosotros mismos pudiésemos crear nuestras propias conclusiones.
