This scheme, which has grown to its present form as the result of several years experience, has been found so useful to his own and other students, that the Author ventures to offer it to a wider public. The scheme enables a student to assign a carbon compound to its class, and, in many cases, to identify the body completely. The reactions of the commonest substances are omitted, since they are to be found in the usual analytical organic text-books.
