I hadn't read any kind of synopsis before reading this, so maybe it gave some away with the back cover, but going in completely blind was amazing. Anya is also a flip-flop. At the start of the book you love her, until you realize what a brat she is and begin to hate her. Then it's love, hate, love, hate until the book ends. I loved her at the end, but I'm not sure she deserved it. She's pretty selfish throughout the whole book, but I think she learned something.Emily, on the other hand... well I just love Emily. The plot is pretty straightforward and predictable, but the illustrations compliment it so well that I wasn't even that bothered by it. The art sets the tone and fits the story so perfectly that the plot hardly matters. Honestly, I don't think this book would work for a novel. Maybe if the descriptions painted as beautiful pictures as the art does. But it works great as a graphic novel!
Definitely different from what I'm used to. I love the art and the plot was very catchy. Over all I think the moral of the story, art, and plot was fun to read through
