مشاهده همهUnhappy and discontent couple, Naomi and Nicholas, are getting married in a few months. Neither are willing to be the one to walk away so they let all their pettiness and pent up contempt come out, hoping to force the other to end it. Instead, they get to know each other more fully than they ever allowed and realize that maybe fighting together for each other is worth it after all. Definitely a romcom, which is not normally my jam (the beauty of blind books is it exposes me to things I wouldn’t normally pick up on my own), but this was a super cute, light, funny read. I genuinely laughed out loud so many times. It’s all from Naomi’s POV and she is hilarious, if not sometimes annoying and immature in the way she views Nicholas. That actually works for the overall plot as she comes to accept her own shortcomings and the reality that maybe she’s been seeing things all wrong. A great story about family dynamics, taking loved ones for granted, and trusting someone enough to be fully yourself. “The beginnings are so sparkly, so effortless. You can imagine the other person to be whoever you want. In all the gaps of you knowledge about them, you can paint in whatever qualities you like as placeholders. You can paint the other person into a dream impossible for them to live up to.”“Relearning you has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
There were some parts of this book that were tough to read because the main characters treated each other pretty poorly, but I really loved experiencing how they found their way back to each other. There was more of the happy, together part than in most books, which I really loved!
