Basilisk: A Starship vs Alien Creature War Novel

Skylar Solace has always dreamed of becoming a starship captain but lacks confidence and has failing grades. She gives up on her dream, quits school, and joins the Marine Corps to serve on the starship frigate Cyclone in a war against the Rheanians.

Her squad is sent to investigate an abandoned enemy destroyer and encounters lizard-like creatures called basilisks with extraordinary speed and agility. They bite, and their victims fall into a deep sleep and wake up hours later, consumed by a desperate need to protect the creatures and get bitten again.

The squad discovers the basilisks’ presence is not incidental. They were brought in from a distant planet and are part of a contemptible scheme to wipe out the entire population of a planet.

If Skylar is to win this battle, she must become the leader she didn’t think she could, find a way to stop the basilisks and their victims, take command of the enemy starship, and prevent the evil plot from taking place.
