My only complaint is the use of two words over and over ( you'll see). Otherwise, really good follow up book to quicksilver, some nice spicy scenes, and the way it ended dropped my jaw and made me want to immediately read the next book.
DIOS.
I finally finished Brimstone by Callie Hart, and my final thoughts are a bit of a mixed bag. If I broke the book into Both the narrators/ characters POV I would say I definitely prefer the male narrator Anthony Palmini, but I didn't not like Stella Blooms voice, I think its because I still think Saeris is whiny, which to be honest is annoying... I had hoped she would develop into a stronger character as a half Fae/vampire??? 🫣 Nope.Ok let's try some of the stuff I liked...👉🏼 Fisher and Carrion on the trip back to get Hayden. 👉🏼Or the library scenes. The origami birds, 🐦 although they reminded me of some magical creature from the Harry Potter world. Archer reminds me of Dobby, and he gets injured 🫣... thankfully she doesn't kill him off like Dobby!Okay now to the stuff that lets it down. While the overarching storyline moves better than Quicksilver, (or Anthony just made it easier to listen to 😆) a massive chunk of this book felt like it was just filling time with a bloated cast of additional characters who are introduced only to never be heard from again. Worse yet, there was a frustrating amount of information kept from the reader. Instead of letting us experience the world-building, we are repeatedly told that Saeris is told "xyz," but the author completely hides what "xyz" actually is from the audience. Doing this multiple times felt like cheap plot tension. This lack of transparency extends to Saeris herself, who (I kept hoping would grow) remained incredibly annoying. (I'm repeating myself I know, but she really annoyed me)Biggest peeve:She is literally handed a magical notebook containing predictions of future events, told she has to read it at the right time, and what does she do? She completely forgets to read it! It’s hard to root for the main character when they ignore the literal cheat sheet handed to them. The romance - is it romance 🤔. I guess I should be happy Fisher actually grew as a character and stopped throttling her - I wasn't a fan of the sexual dynamic in book 1), anyway back to book 2, It feels like the only time Kingfisher and Saeris are together is to get their freak on. Because they are physically separated for so much of the book, their only interactions happen through shared dreamscapes. Instead of spending any meaningful time getting to know each other, talking, or growing their bond. Saeris honestly spends way more time developing dynamics with random side characters than her actual mate. The ending was admittedly quite good and gave cool Rings of Power vibes with the Rot, (and I'm sorry but I kept thinking about Thor in chains too when listening to the end chapter) but it leaves us stuck waiting for Book 3. Sadly, thanks to Grand Central Publishing delaying the finale to September 7, 2027, we have a long wait ahead of us.One thing I did note when researching when the next book was coming out... I was Looking at the author's website where Quicksilver was originally listed as a standalone! (Gosh I wish I had been able to read it when it was indie published, but it came out when my husband was really sick) I wonder how that original book ended 🤔.But it really makes you wonder if this would have stayed a single book if traditional publishers hadn't picked it up after it went viral??? So I'm going to give it 3 Stars, As there were no inconsistenies like the Pub/Tavern issues, nor were they eating quiche 🙃. But I definitely feel like it's a heavily padded sequel that prioritizes spice over genuine relationship growth.I am interested in what will happen in book 3, and with it being pushed back, hopefully the plot will be something more than dreamscape sexy time's 😉 (God help us if it's full of Hell/BDSM rooms 😶🌫️)Hopefully because we will be finding out about Fisher oops 😬 I mean (Khydan) we'll get more Anthony POV and I hope Saeris utilizes her reading skills in the finale and stops being so whiny 😉.
Então, comecei Brimstone animada e não me decepcionei.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 6 STARSBrimstone by Callie Hart absolutely consumed me from beginning to end 😭🔥This book had EVERYTHING I love in a fantasy romance:⚔️ danger🖤 tension🔥 chemistry😭 emotional damage✨ characters I can't stop thinking aboutEvery chapter felt bigger than the last. Just when I thought I understood what was happening, another twist would come along and leave me shocked. The world-building was incredible, the stakes felt impossibly high, and the relationships had me completely invested. The yearning in this book??? UNMATCHED.You know a book is special when you finish it and immediately want to reread it while also needing a support group to process everything that just happened 😭I laughed, I stressed, I gasped, I got my heart broken, and I loved every second of it.Callie Hart really knows how to make me emotionally attach myself to fictional characters and then leave me thinking about them long after I've finished the final page.⭐ Rating: 6/6💭 Mood: obsessed • emotional • stressed • shocked • in love📖 This book owns a permanent spot in my brain now 🖤Have you read Brimstone yet? And if you have, what was the moment that completely hooked you?
Oh my gosh, the cliffhanger at the end of this book is killing me because what do you mean I can’t find out what’s going to happen yet? The character development, the plot development, the twist and turns, all chefs kiss. I had a very enjoyable time reading this book and now I can’t wait for the next one to be released!

Duty. Blood. Honor. Power. Saeris Fane doesn’t want power. The very last thing she needs is her name whispered on an entire court’s lips, but now that she’s been crowned queen of the Blood Court, she’s discovering that a queen’s life is not her own. A heavy weight rests upon her shoulders. Her ward—and her brother—need her back in her homeland…but the changes that have strengthened Saeris have also made her weak. Born under blazing suns, Saeris will surely die if she makes her way home through the Quicksilver. Which means that, once again, she must send someone else in her stead... “Keep your mouth shut. Stick to the shadows. And for the love of all seven Gods, do NOT crack any jokes.” Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate has defeated armies and survived all manner of horrors, but traveling back to Zilvaren with Carrion Swift might just be the death of him. The male just will not shut up. Hidden dangers await them down the narrow alleyways of the Silver City. Unfolding secrets pose impossible threats. Fisher must wrangle the smuggler and accomplish his goals quickly if he wants to see his mate again. A darkness falls across Yvelia. The realm and their friends are in danger. Together, Saeris and Fisher will pass through fire and brimstone to save them.
What an adventure. Brimstone was such a fun ride and I flew through the second half of the book.
Saeris really shines here as a strategic queen figuring out how to lead while protecting the people she cares about. Kingfisher continues to deliver strong book boyfriend energy, and the mate bond between them adds a lot of tension and emotion. The spice was spicing!
Carrion also brought some great chaotic humor, which balanced the heavier moments nicely.
I read this with the audiobook and the duet-style narration was excellent. The ending has a cliffhanger, but it left me more excited for the next book than frustrated.

I really liked the overall setting and the story, but I wasn't a huge fan of the main couple—Saeris and Kingfisher (if I can even call him that 🤭). I think the spicy scenes wher a little bit cringyThe side characters didn't get much development either. I expected more from Renfis, but he never really became relevant. Carrion had a bit more growth and even a brilliant moment, but then he was just sidelined again—honestly, just like every other character. Also, what they did with Lorreth was awful; I loved him in the first book, but he barely shined in this one. On the other hand, Tal was great—definitely one of my new favorites, so I hope they don't ruin their arc. Oh, and I literally almost cried over the Onyx situation... I did NOT see that coming and it was devastating
Oh my goodness. This book was a lot. There were so many movements throughout the book, so many journeys within journeys, it is something that just has to be experienced. I can say my favorite part was early on, the adventure of Kingfisher and Carrion going to Zilvaren. I felt like it could have been 3 books, but also that it didn't really have a resolution. I enjoyed it, but I understand some of the negative reviews because even though so much happened in this book, basically nothing happened with the overarching conflict (Madra, Belikon, we even added the rot), which is wild for like 700 pages. I will be anxiously awaiting the next installment and stand by this being the coolest world to be built that I have read in a long time. I am okay with the lack of resolution because I enjoyed the journey so much. What did I dislike? Generally my favorite characters from the first book, were just not as cool. Kingfisher was such a badass in book 1 that his waxing poetic here just rubbed me the wrong way. And the Fox at the end. Come on! What did I love? Carrion, the Hazrax, Taladaius, Foley, Algat, and the vampire court twist (!!). Read it!
