I don't know how to explain my experience reading this other than it felt like most sentences on any page could be placed in any other chapter, on any other page and they would fit just as well. It felt like a bunch of general sentences about love that were put on page to make the word count.I've seen this book recommended a lot, so I guess I'm in the minority, but I didn't feel like I gained anything from reading it.
A book focusing on the power of self-love and importance of giving love to those around you while also facing the challenges love brings. There were a lot of discussions that resonated with me, such as how we present ourselves in romantic relationships, openness to love and how fear of being vulnerable to love can have a knock on effect. I also liked the sections of the theme of love in the wider community and how material wants and other factors have overshadowed it. All this combined definitely made it a worthwhile read for me.However, while having a commitment to faith and God provides a cornerstone and source of healing and emotional strength to many, the aspects of spiritualism and religion didn't connect with me on a personal level as much.
