This is a great sequel to New Kid. I like that Jordan's character is still present in this book but I enjoyed having another character be the centerpiece. This graphic novel does a really great job of bring up a very important issue...racial identity. Drew is one of a few kids of color at a private school and is trying to figure out who is and where he fits. He doesn't want to be one person at school and another person at home but he is starting to feel the divide and disconnect. He begins to feel that some of his friends don't understand the disconnect he feels because those opportunities are just afforded to them. This book brings forth a great lesson and theme...in order to really understand someone, you need to walk in their shoes. By visiting each other's homes and lives outside of the school, hopefully Drew and his friends can really understand how each other feel and learn to accept one another. There were a few chapters that seemed random to me and were a little hard to follow but overall, I really enjoyed this book!
