As a boy, William Goldman claims, he loved to hear his father read the S. Morgenstern classic, The Princess Bride. But as a grown-up he discovered that the boring parts were left out of good old Dad's recitation, and only the "good parts" reached his ears.
Now Goldman does Dad one better. He's reconstructed the "Good Parts Version" to delight wise kids and wide-eyed grownups everywhere.
What's it about? Fencing. Fighting. True Love. Strong Hate. Harsh Revenge. A Few Giants. Lots of Bad Men. Lots of Good Men. Five or Six Beautiful Women. Beasties Monstrous and Gentle. Some Swell Escapes and Captures. Death, Lies, Truth, Miracles, and a Little Sex.
In short, it's about everything.

after 3 years on my TBR Shelf, I purchased a copy of this book( bargain price of $5).A further 2 years later, I discover this book on my bookshelf at home. waiting, just wanting to be read.so for the new year I thought I'd not only read it , but I'd savour it as It had been waiting for so long to be read.and I don't regret reading this book for a minute. if you have ever seen the movie there are very subtle differences but the classic essentially remains the same. either that or I just need to watch the movie again.the only thing I regret about this book is the 5 years wasted not reading the darn thing!!
