Beautiful You by Chuck Palahniuk absolutely shocked me.This book started as a 4.7… and then completely changed my mind.I was angry. I was speechless. I was uncomfortable. And I couldn’t stop reading.Penny’s story broke my heart. The way she was watched, controlled, and repeatedly failed by the people who were supposed to protect her made me so angry for her. The courtroom scene especially? Horrifying.Maxwell’s obsession is on another level. The yearning, the manipulation, the power, the way he literally reshaped the world just to get her back — it’s disturbing, fascinating, and unforgettable. The reveal about Phoebe??INSANE.Finding out Penny was Phoebe from a past life and that Maxwell waited through time just to have her again? Wild. And the way power, control, desire, and capitalism were all twisted together?? This book had so much to say — and it said it LOUD.Penny fighting back and taking control in the end? That was everything. This was uncomfortable, provocative, and unforgettable — and that’s exactly why it worked.⭐ Rating: 5/5💭 Mood: shocked • angry • disturbed • impressed • obsessed📖 Not an easy read, but a powerful one
