A small town in Virginia, stunned by its third mysterious murder in two weeks. The same, haunting message left at each crime scene provides the local police with little direction and deepening frustration.

After the third murder occurs at a busy truck stop, aging, retired detective Arch McCracken is recruited for his sharp mind and even sharper reasoning. But, the sheer impossibility of the details leaves even Arch scratching his head.
