Working Synopsis:
Eleanor Rosalie Conti. Born April, 30, 1924.
The story goes that the doctor could hardly be heard over the sound of her screams, such was the intensity with which she was yearning to speak—and have people listen.
I, for one, believe it.
Though I may not have recognized it at the time, I’ve been in love with her since the very first time she opened her mouth and pointed it at me.
To date, that’s a total of forty-four years, eight months, and twenty-seven days. And every day, every single one, for that too short time, she’s taught me that when she speaks, it’s time to shut up and pay attention.
To the very best of my age-worn recollection, this is the story of us.
