So, if this was my first time reading the series I'd probably give this a lower rating, but I felt in the middle would work for me. The first time I started reading this series I was about 14 and I absolutely loved and adored it, I was obsessed with the whole thing. And now reading this as an adult I have a whole different perspective and do find a lot of it to be quite annoying, they only reason I haven't DNF'd is the nostalgia and because I have forgotten about all the little things and even the ending. I would myself recommend this book for those of a mid teen age but I believe any older than that it doesn't seem to work for as it has a childish feel to the writing. This in itself is not a bad thing as I'm sure the main demographic for this series is teenagers and I feel that it is still good for them and does have some good morals to tell in a roundabout way. But as an adult it just feels childish and makes you want to reach into the book and shake Zoey's shoulders and give her a serious talk to.
This is my second read-through!I read it all like a decade ago, in high school!I definitely enjoy it for the nostalgia, aside from that it is definitely more aimed for middle-grade to YA.Zoey is our MC but her character development throughout the series is so good.The other characters you will fall in love with as they fight evil through each book. The friend group is so great, and they will make you laugh and cry.Definitely worth reading.I would love more of an adult version of this series !
arrrrrggh sometimes i can't stand cliff hangers and this is one of them!!! this was an absolutely awesome book. i loved it!!! my only hang up is that i have to wait until the next book (burned)comes out!!!Zoey redbird continues her quest as a fledgling high priestess. in this book it is a different format top the others. it is still written in first person, except stevie rae and stark and all have a go and telling their part of the story.as usual with this series you either love zoey or you hate her. this time my heart goes out to her. i won't say anymore because to add spoilers on this book would be just terrible. you have to experience this one for yourself.
