⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I went into Half City with extremely high expectations—any book that promises vibes like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural (two peak shows!) has a lot to live up to. And wow, it not only met those expectations, it exceeded them. The world-building, the action, and the characters completely pulled me in and refused to let go until the final page (I genuinely binged this until 2 a.m.). It captured all my favorite elements of Buffy: the sassy humor, the duality of balancing duty with a so-called normal life, and that same dark, gritty edge. There wasn’t a single character I didn’t enjoy—well, aside from the ones you’re not supposed to like. The imagery was so vivid I felt like I was right there hunting alongside Viv and attending Harker. And the romance? I was literally giggling and kicking my feet. I’m also sensing a love triangle brewing, and honestly…I’m not mad about it.The only real disappointment was that cliffhanger—and the fact that I don’t already have book two in my hands. Now I’ll be impatiently counting down the days until October so I can jump back into Viv’s world.Tropes: found family, huntress × demon, dark academia elements, professor × student, hidden life, revenge plot, morally gray charactersHighly recommend to just about everyone—especially fans of Buffy and Supernatural.
