I didn't know that this is set after the events if another series by the author, if i would have known that I wouldn't have read it. The love interest is literally just the Witcher and the romance between them is the main focus. The fmc goes to an academy but it doesn't feel like that, this school is supposed to be super dangerous but it doesn't feel like that most of the time. During the first test some of the students die but the teacher literally just brings them back to life which makes all the other times when someone ist afraid of soneone else dying make zero sense. Also in the beginnin the gauntlet ist describe as this big final test but when it comes it is really anticlimactic. Also why does she always uses her potions instead of he lightning powers? The "plot twist" that zavier is a royal was really obvious. And the ending felt chaotic and frustrating. Liked the writing style but the dialogue felt to on the nose sometimes.
I am wrecked! My heart is broken. 💔I will only say this: read The Legend of Thezmarr before starting this one. While there are plenty of references to the previous series - including quotes used as memories to help you understand the context - you will only truly understand the characters and what they’ve been through if you’ve read the original series (even if they were only side characters back then).And for those who have read The Legend of Thezmarr - Audra already knew everything in Shadows & Storms when Thea found her in the library with Malik! I won’t mention the title of the book she was reading so I don't give away any spoilers-iykyk!
