Le Démon blanc

Demon in White by Christopher Ruocchio, the third book in the Sun Eater series, earns its 4.5/5 stars through ambitious world-building, complex character development, and a gripping blend of science fiction and epic fantasy. Hadrian Marlowe, the series' protagonist, continues his journey as a man caught between heroism and infamy, navigating a sprawling galactic empire fraught with political intrigue, alien threats, and philosophical dilemmas. Ruocchio’s prose is dense yet evocative, drawing comparisons to Frank Herbert’s Dune for its intricate lore and moral ambiguity. The novel shines in its exploration of Hadrian’s internal struggles and the cosmic stakes of his actions, particularly against the backdrop of the Cielcin, a menacing alien race. Action sequences, like the gladiatorial battles and space combat, are vivid and thrilling, balancing the slower, introspective moments. However, the book’s hefty length—over 900 pages—can feel daunting, and some readers might find the pacing uneven, with extended philosophical tangents occasionally stalling momentum. Secondary characters, while well-drawn, sometimes fade under Hadrian’s dominant narrative voice. Despite these minor flaws, Demon in White delivers a richly immersive experience, deepening the series’ stakes and cementing Ruocchio as a standout in modern sci-fi. Perfect for fans of epic, thought-provoking sagas, it’s a worthy continuation that leaves you eager for more.

HALF MORTAL. HALF MORTAL!!!!When I tell you this book popped off on page one, I'm not lying to you. The concepts of time and reality that Christopher portrays in this book were simply incredible. My only negative of this book was that it ended, I needed it to continue.I hate to say it, but a short break until Kingdoms of Death, I don't want to finish this series too quickly lol. 5.2/5, will read again.
