توضیحات

In a world where cities rove the landscape on massive wheels, the once-great metropolis of London is now a predatory machine, hunting smaller towns for resources. The story unfolds on a tempestuous spring afternoon as London prowls after a diminutive mining settlement, signaling the relentless competition for survival in a harsh and unforgiving environment. Philip Reeve skillfully crafts a tale of ambition and survival in a post-apocalyptic world where technology has taken on a life of its own.

Among the chaos, a young woman named Hester Shaw emerges with a fierce determination and a troubled past. With scars both physical and emotional, she embodies the struggle against the powerful forces that dominate this mobile civilization. Her path intertwines with that of Tom Natsworthy, an apprentice in London's guild who is thrown into a whirlwind of adventure and danger alongside her.

As they navigate treacherous alliances and face merciless enemies, Hester and Tom uncover deep-seated conspiracies and age-old battles between the past and the future. The sprawling landscapes, filled with fortified towns and towering mechanical beasts, create a vivid backdrop for their journey, immersing readers in a richly detailed universe.

This tale of survival, friendship, and rebellion challenges the limits of technology and humanity. With a blend of action and intricate world-building, it captivates the imagination, leaving readers questioning the cost of progress in a world where cities are more than mere homes; they are predators in a never-ending hunt.

This is my own personal opinion, not a fact.If you plan to read this book, do not watch the movie first! I watched the movie first and absolutely loved it, but when I started the book I noticed all the differences, as it usually happens. That's not to say that the book is bad or the movie isn't any less amazing.I don't prefer one over the other, I thought they were both brilliant (though the movie has a slightly happier ending, mind you).It feels like it's two different stories that take place in the same world, like two different realities running parallel to one another. One more thing I will say: the book paints Valentine out to be more human than the movie does, so you'll probably have mixed feelings about him if you do both. When I started the book, I was thinking it was a solid three stars, but the book didn't disappoint and bumped itself up to four!
