I promise I'm not such a difficult reader. I don't nitpick things on purpose...I will say I LOVED the book premise. I love anything podcast, movie, reality show in a book. And I felt like the reality show plot line was very well explored. And I also really enjoyed the writing. It was easy to get through, neither pointlessly poetic, nor dumbed down just because the book is a rom-com. However... There are some plot holes and annoying bits that I really could not get past. And that is why this is a 3⭐ for me. Firstly, I found it INCREDIBLY STUPID that Grandma kept every bit of information about Olivia's parents' relationship hidden from her until she's well in her twenties?! Like, I understand not explaining that whole dynamic to a child, but at least tell her enough so that she doesn't grow up feeling like an unwanted accident that ruined her parents' lives?!I don't know if I missed anything, but from how she reflects on her parents and the circumstances of her birth, it doesn't seem like she was ever made aware her parents deeply wanted and loved her. Or that they loved each other!? And that her grandma thinks the best moment to offer that information is over the phone, while Olivia is being filmed? And while we're on this topic, are we supposed to find it logical that she's the daughter of a movie star and an important man in the movie industry, yet somehow she doesn't have any money? I get that they're dead, but she didn't inherit anything? Also, we're supposed to understand and somewhat sympathize with Astrid, who loved and respected Olivia's parents, but at no time thought to inquire if the child whose parents were her close friends and who helped her get everything she has now, needs financial support? Secondly, it took me a loooong time to get invested in the love story because I think it was about halfway through the book that we had any sort of emotional insights into their relationship. We got too many hints that they were insatiable for each other, that they absolutely burned with lust... But very little emotional depth until towards the end of the book. I know it's a silly love story and that I'm reading too much into it, but these little things didn't let me enjoy this book to the fullest, because they were not just little details that didn't make sense to me, they were literally the primary and secondary plot of the book.
