Was a decent audio. Some voices weren't great but she did a good villian. Too much like his father's work even if it is set in the same universe. Ending fizzled.
Really my enjoyment from this makes it deserve five stars, but there was so much needless fatphobia, and a gross mix of other things like sexism and ableism that it doesn't feel right giving it a perfect rating.
“Would you like to go to Christmas land?” It was a great horror story from start to finish. I did laugh at some parts. It was a well detailed story filled with horror and suspense.
I don't normally seek out horror books but this had great reviews and looked like a good story.I was really pleased I did as it is a fantastic book. The story was gripping with an amazing premise and ideas throughout. It certainly didn't feel as long as it was as I was hooked. Will definitely have to read more of Joe Hill's.The reason I didn't give it five stars was because horror isn't one of my usual/favourite genres so I didn't get completely immersed as other genres plus there were a few American-isms which make me cringe a little e.g. the use of the phrase "check that" as in this example: "When Wayne went out half and hour later, to walk Hooper - no, check that, to get away from his mother...". But this is just my minor quibble about an fantastic read.
