Josie Moore já abriu o coração para o amor várias vezes. Mais exatamente quatro, se contarmos todos os noivados fracassados. Cinco se incluirmos seu pai, um homem famoso e influente que Josie só conheceu há pouco tempo.
Quando o pai decide divulgar a existência de Josie, até então mantida em segredo, a atenção da imprensa se volta para ela. Mas não de uma forma positiva. A mídia faz questão de relacionar o histórico amoroso da moça à falta de uma figura paterna. E Josie, com sua mania de querer agradar, sente que precisa resolver a situação.
O acaso faz com que a solução apareça na sua porta no exato momento em que ela está encurralada pela relações-públicas do seu pai. Matthew Flanagan acabou de ser demitido e resolveu visitar a melhor amiga, irmã de Josie, em Green Oak, na Carolina do Norte. Depois de se perder numa tempestade, Matthew acaba indo parar por engano na casa de Josie, que estranhamente o recebe com um sonoro “Oi, amor!” e age como se ele fosse seu noivo.
A partir daí, os dois se veem envolvidos em um noivado de mentira, com Matthew representando muito bem o papel enquanto ele e Josie são sugados para o centro de um turbilhão midiático.
Com o dia do casamento chegando, porém, os limites e regras começam a ficar mais confusos e toda a cidadezinha de Green Oak passa a acreditar que o quinto noivado é para valer... inclusive os noivos.

4,5 ⭐️J’en suis un peu bouleversée guys c’était vrmt prenant et j’ai aimé leur alchimie et leur relation et même si matthew est un green flag, un des meilleurs personnages masculins que j’ai jamais lu, il parle bcp trop quoi
-It took me a second, but I figured out that Josie is the secret sister and the Matthew is Adalyn's best friend and this is all figured out in 'The Long Game'...which I apparently read at the start of the year 🤭🤣
-Why can't she just tell them to all fuck off and get on with her life as her fathers legacy collapses because her dad is more of a sperm donor than a father
-The sexual tension between them is just *Chef's kiss*... like these are the moments I enjoy reading about him and her against defense just chatting to each other whilst photos are being taken and it seems to them that they're in love... damn that's what we want
-I just love that he's coming up with loads and nicknames for her we've gone to baby cakes and shortcake now
-I've got to say this is one of my favourite book boyfriends like there's just something about Matthew Flanagan that completes me and I just feel like there's such a good couple...oh my god
-He's so sweet and his flirtation is just something about it like you don't often get someone like a Matthew in the books that I read it's more of a contemporary vibe and it's just great
-We're getting new things with them...he is super flirty and very honest about his feelings, they have had phone sex without being a couple and now they are doing blindfolded wine testing and a side of flirting...all with a side of flirting
-Maria is such a cute little knowledge of wisdom...like she is 11 but sooo intelligent and lovable...especially with the pig and the goat
-I don't like that there is that podcast getting all up in their business and trying to direct her relationship just because she is related to Underwood and she has been engaged 4 times...there are good reasons why she didn't get married to any of them but they didn't see it that way
