توضیحات

In a world where magic and mystery intertwine, a young apprentice finds himself on an unexpected journey. With his hunter and trapper parents lost deep within the enchanted forest, he must navigate the perils of the wild and the secrets of the arcane. Guided by a wise old wizard, he learns about both the beauty and danger that lurk in every shadow.

As he delves deeper into his training, he discovers that the forest holds its own enchantments and challenges. Along the way, he encounters a cast of unique characters, both friend and foe, who help shape his destiny. With courage, determination, and a dash of humor, he starts to uncover not only the fate of his parents but also his own path in this whimsical world brimming with wonder.

Every decision he makes leads him closer to understanding the bonds of family and the true meaning of magic. Through trials and triumphs, he learns that sometimes, the greatest adventures come from within.

Read: ~2005Reread: 12/31/23My first reread of this trilogy since high school!Having just read the Mage Storms trilogy before diving into the Owl Mage trilogy I have realized that Lackey's writing style is very slice of life and telling. We follow our characters as they do simply every day tasks while they think through every single detail of the past and their feelings and what they should do about those details so we are told how they feel and we should feel. I don't hate this, but its good to know for those that haven't read much Lackey and are interested in checking it out.Darrion is a typical orphaned and mistreated fantasy main character who ends up in extraordinary circumstances. I love reading Valdemar for that trope, so it isn't a negative for me. Darrion is pretty whiney for the first half of this book, but we get a lot of context to help us remember he is a child dealing with trauma and are able to accept him with the context.
