Le royaume de Yscalin est l'un des plus fidèles à la religion du Saint. Son roi, qui règne d'une main de fer, n'a aucun amour pour sa fille, la Donmata Marosa, qui lui rappelle trop son épouse adultère. Depuis ses seize ans, il l'empêche de sortir du palais et de voir le monde.
Marosa n'a qu'un désir : fuir le Palais du Salut. Cela ne sera possible qu'une fois qu'elle sera mariée au prince Aubrecht, et libérée du joug du roi. Ce plan est sur le point de se réaliser quand la montagne près de la cité entre en éruption, et recrache des milliers de créatures draconiques. Parmi elles se trouve Feúdel, l'aile droite du Sans-Nom, le wyrm dont tous craignent le retour.
Quand le roi se soumet et convertit son royaume à un nouveau culte, tout espoir est perdu. La Donmata doit oublier ses rêves pour se concentrer sur une chose : survivre, et sauver son peuple des flammes.

I was really excited to read this one, and I'd say I enjoyed it for the most part.
I was a little disappointed towards the end, but mostly because I had assumed there were going to be certain scenes that I really wanted to see after I finished priory. Like Marosa being crowned queen after Sigoso's death, and Yscalin being freed from Fyredel's reign. Or maybe even Marosa recieving that letter from Loth after the Nameless One is defeated. It was still really enjoyable! I had a lot of fun reading it. I was devastated in all the Aubrecht chapters!! He is such a sweetheart. It kills me to know how his story ends. Did this book feel even more brutal than the Priory to anybody else?? I mean wow. Yscabel!! I adored Estina and Liyat, so happy that they got some semblance of a happy ending. Overall, I definitely enjoyed it. I'll probably start A Day of Fallen Night.
This is such a cool edition to The Roots of Chaos, offering great additional story to The Priory of the Orange Tree.
