توضیحات

This book coincides with the twenty-fifth anniversary of Norman Cousins' editorship of the Saturday Review. During this time, the editorial page of the Saturday Review has been examining the contemporary arena. Its gaze has been fixed on man's relationship to his political and natural environment in a world that became one before it became whole.

In effect, this book is a chronicle of the fundamental issues of a turbulent quarter century, from Peal Harbour to Vietnam. The story begins with the involvement of the American people in World War II. It runs through Hiroshima 0nd he early post-war years during which man first tried to cope with nuclear energy and its implications; through the revolution of independence for most of the nations of Asia and Africa symbolized by Bandung; through upheavals in Korea, Berlin, Suez, Laos, and the Congo; through the development of the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and up to Vietnam.

This book is divided into two sections. The first tells the story of the Saturday Review it-self; from its founding in 1924. It speaks informally of the people who founded the magazine and of its involvement in some of the key issues and events in *recent* history. The second section consists of selected editorials and articles by Norman Cousins in the Saturday Review.
