I truthfully didn't expect this book to hit as deep as it did. I almost put it down in the beginning and then it took off. Each sister had their own story and war to fight, not only in the world around them but for themselves, in order to survive. Absolutely amazing.
Beautiful, hurtful, its how i feel about all war stories and games i played. The sacrifice, trying to do anything to stay alive. I don't even know what to say, just that it really is beautiful.
This book omg.... You think you know something and then you don't know anything. The ending of this book was so impactfull. Unfortunately I didnt cry but I came close to it.
After the most tramatic read of my life where I dehydrated myself sobbing, I finally reached the last chapter of the book. I thought the end to heartbreak was over, however the first page threw me for such a loop I had to stop and re-read the entire book AGAIN to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me.... If that does not speak to Kristin's ability to write, then I don't know what does. That is all I have to say.
This entire genre wasn't something i would have ever picked up. I believed that i would have dnf this book but i didn't n 0 regrets abt that. I absolutely loved this story. People told me that this book was alot....well yes it was. It didn't have me sobbing butttt it was definitely alot. Alot of losses, love, fight, struggle n the list can go on n on.
Loved this book. It broke my heart so many times. I have little words. I could hardly start another book after reading this one. It has me in awe. I loved it with my entire heart, and there was never a dull moment. Sometimes the fewer words the better.

I can't remember the last time a book made we weep so hard. This book gutted me, and then the ending put me back together again. Ugh, I could talk about this forever. Literally 10 star read!
Aku sudah pernah membaca beberapa novel berlatar perang. Dan ceritanya pasti selalu saja tragis. The Nightingale bukan pengecualian. Bercerita tentang Vianne dan Isabelle, sepasang saudari, yang hidup semasa Perang Dunia II. Vianne yang patuh dan berusaha menghindari masalah. Isabelle yang pemberontak dan rela membahayakan nyawa. Keduanya memilih jalan yang berlainan, namun memiliki tujuan serupa: melindungi keluarga, orang-orang tak bersalah, dan memperjuangkan kemerdekaan Prancis. Tadinya kukira novel ini bakal full berisi tentang kekejaman WD II. Sebaliknya, menurutku The Nightingale berusaha menyampaikan sesuatu yang lebih intim, yaitu mengenai cinta. Tentang orang-orang yang berusaha mencari cinta dan menjadikannya alasan bertahan di tengah kejinya perang. Meski alurnya terasa lambat dan kelam, menurutku novel ini sangat page turner buat dibaca. Penyampaiannya puitis, tokoh-tokohnya kompleks serta manusiawi. Tidak lupa, ending-nya berhasil membuat hatiku remuk.
This is one of those books that sticks with you for a long time. I still think of it fairly often, even though it's been almost 2 years since I read it. I had read other books by Kristin Hannah and liked them, but this one blew all her other books out of the water. The story is compelling, and the writing is good. The time period is not an easy one to write about, and she weaves all these different elements of the time period together in a way that doesn't seem too contrived. I recommend this book to everyone.
