Well… this book definitely lived up to all its hype! Yes, it may be another sassy, headstrong FMC that ends up in a fae world and falls for a tall, dark-haired shadow daddy Romantasy that feels overly familiar- BUT, I feel like it was different enough to feel fresh. The unique magic system, the portals to other realms, the vampires- they all gave it a different aspect that kept me intrigued. I even got some Beauty and the Beast vibes through the beginning, which is always a good thing for me. There was a little “telling vs showing” and unnatural info-dumping in the dialogue at the beginning, but once the story got going, it really took off! The word building was incredible, the battle and action scenes were intense and graphic in the best way, and I absolutely loved all of the side characters! Carrion may be a new favorite character, and Kingfisher melted my heart with the way he sacrificed so much for his people. I’m interested to see how his and Saeris’s characters continue to develop in the next book. In short, I loved it! I do NOT love the cliffhanger, however… I can’t wait to read Brimstone!

4.5 ⭐️This book was really good! The banter was good, and the way the author did the fated mates trope was done well also. I loved the found family aspect. The only problem I had was the pacing. It felt like there was a lot happening at one time or that it was moving so slow that it felt like nothing was happening. But, I still had fun with it.

Do not touch the sword. Do not turn the key. Do not open the gate. In the land of the unforgiving desert, there isn’t much a girl wouldn’t do for a glass of water. Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses, or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares…but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris has landed herself right in the middle of a centuries-long conflict that might just get her killed. The first of her kind to tread the frozen mountains of Yvelia in over a thousand years, Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior, who has secrets and nefarious agendas of his own. He will use her Alchemist’s magic to protect his people, no matter what it costs him… or her. Death has a name. It is Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate. His past is murky. His attitude stinks. And he’s the only way Saeris is going to make it home. Be careful of the deals you make, dear child. The devil is in the details...

Well, I finally tried my first Romantasy lol. I have seen such differing views on this one, and it scared me a little bit going in. I'm not a fantasy reader because sometimes the world-building can be too heavy for me. As someone with busy kids, I have to stop reading as quickly as I started. As someone with Aphantasia, I cannot envision the worlds, and thus makes it very difficult to input myself into a fantasy world and enjoy it. Quicksilver was my first go at a fantasy world since I was a teenager, and I will say that I enjoyed this one. Was it the best book ever written? Maybe not. I can see why a lot of the heavier fantasy readers didn't enjoy this one...but for a beginner romantasy reader? I feel like this one is absolutely perfect. The vibes were there. I do think book 2 will be even more enjoyable and I can't wait for that one. I was pleasantly surprised, because I went into this book COMPLETELY blind. I knew nothing other than people saying they loved it or hated it. I didn't read the blurb...nothing. And I was really happy that I was able to enjoy this book in its full capacity. SHES THICC though, holy I wasn't expecting THAT LOL. I also don't necessarily think I would consider this a true enemies to lovers, but alas LOL. But I did love the found-family aspect of this one!

Quicksilver is an absolute gem! From the very start, it pulls you into a world that feels both fresh and familiar, blending sci-fi elements with heart-pounding suspense. The plot is fast-paced and full of twists, keeping you guessing until the very end. Every chapter left me wanting more, and the stakes just kept rising. The characters were a standout for me. They’re smart, relatable, and incredibly layered. The protagonist, in particular, was someone I immediately connected with—her strength, wit, and vulnerability made her feel so real. The relationships she forms throughout the story feel natural, adding depth to an already engaging narrative.I also loved how the book handled its sci-fi elements. The technology and world-building were fascinating but never felt overcomplicated or too technical. Everything was woven seamlessly into the story, making it accessible even for readers who don’t usually dive into science fiction.By the time I reached the final pages, I was fully invested and completely satisfied with how everything wrapped up. Quicksilver is the perfect blend of action, emotion, and creativity. It’s one of those books that you just can’t stop thinking about, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling, immersive read.

Honestly, I wasn't feeling it too much for the whole first half of the book. It was interesting but just didn't.. pull me in and I struggled to read it. I did however, smash the second half of the book out in a day and oh my god. So glad I kept going and so glad book two is ALREADY OUT

I loved this book so much. It’s the first in the series, but it never felt slow. I connected with the characters right away, and the story kept me hooked. I can’t wait for book two!

Love! Quicksilver had me invested. I felt very captivated by the storyline and grew to enjoy majority of the characters, normally I find I don't enjoy vampire based fantasies much but I felt this was a good balance between my normal go-to fae fantasy reads with the exposure to the vampire world towards the end. Intrigued to see where this series goes.

Everything I wanted it to be and more. Love. One of my favourite fantasy reads of the year.

Rating: 4.5 stars.“For those who live their nightmares, so that others may have their dreams.”I’m honestly still on the fence about my rating for this one, and I might even come back to adjust it later. The story started off so strong; the opening completely pulled me in and had me thinking this was going to be an easy five stars. But once I hit the middle section (around the 200 page mark), things started to drag. The pacing dipped, the plot lost focus, and I found myself wondering where it was even heading. At that point, it felt like a 3.5 or 3.25-star read. Still, with all the amazing reviews floating around, I decided to stick with it, and thank goodness I did, because that ending?? Absolute chaos in the best possible way. BOOM. BAM. BOOH.. WHAT EVEN?!

Is it the best? No but it's a fun ride.

My first top favorite of 2025 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
