This is the story of a twelve year old boy who lost his father in a military incident. The boy passes through many stages, from a youthful cowboy on a ranch in Nebraska, to high school student in New Mexico, to college graduate in Arizona and finally a US Air Force ace. The military fraternity is a part of his life. This brotherhood includes veterans, living and deceased. The "game" is determining who are the living. Join Hal Gordon and his mother as they rebuild their lives, with an assist from a military fraternity ranging from a crusty old sargent to a young lieutenant not ready to "pass on".
