Second Hand Worlds: Exchange and Consumption

This study explores the worlds of second hand goods--where they are bought and sold--and what happens to these goods once they have been purchased. The book focuses specifically on three of the most important sites of second hand car boot sales, charity shops and retro retailing. It examines the geographies of location; looks at the principles of second hand exchange; discusses how sites are differentiated from each other and from more familiar forms of retailing; and analyses practices of second hand shopping.
